Curious... do motorcylists that drive on the left side of the road wave to each other as much as motorcyclists that drive on the right(correct...hehe) side of the road?

Am I understand this correctly? In America we wave with our brake hand to each other because it's nearest the middle of the road and easier than using our throttle hand. In the UK wouldn't the throttle hand be on the inside thus making it more awkward?

How do people "over there" do the wave thing?

I found this on some website:

More than 50 countries around the world drive on the left side of the road. The major countries, ranked by population, are India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Nepal. In Europe, Cyprus, Ireland and Malta are the other countries that drive on the left.

We nod mostly. It's usually a slight downward/sideways movement although different riders do it different ways. There's also a quite complicated etiquette as to who nods at whom and when and how it all works.

For example: most sport bike riders won't nod to scooter riders and most scooter riders won't nod back even if you nod at them. Same goes for cruiser riders - I don't even bother with them anymore. I tend to nod to new riders on "L" (learner) plates unless they are delivery guys - again they never nod back - to try and be social.

I almost never get nods in London no matter who I nod at while I almost always get nods (except as mentioned above) outside the city.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the answer. I didn't think people would take off their throttle hand and wave, that would be silly.

We have our own etiquette here too. Quite often I will just lift my fingers off the grip and raise them. That's good enough. :D

sometimes i am obnoxious about it and throw my left hand up and point at them and continue pointing until they are past my periph (cuz i never take my eyes off of what is in front of me ;) ) ... i do it to cruisers too even though i know they wont wave back... i get a kick out of it... :D
