Hyosung 250R

If i had known about this before I got my FZ6 I would have gotten it as my beginner bike. $3500 brand new 0km. 250cc. and the reason I would have gotten IT and why I didnt get a ninja250.......the Hyosung 250 is the SAME SIZE AS A FULL-SIZE LITREBIKE in terms of the chassis and seating position and such. Thats why I didnt get a 500cc suzuki, or a 250 ninja....I'm 6'4". I was looking for bandits and sv650s but didnt find any good prices. So I just went with the FZ6 as a bike I rly rly rly wanted anyway and didnt have any reason to look elsewhere.

Looks impressive at that price point. Kawasaki 250 jumped 500 to $3500 with their new model also. That's their primary competition I suspect. The reason I prefer the Kawa was that it's smaller than the typical literbike and has an upright position. YMMV. :Sport:

There is a local dealer here by me that sells these brand of bikes, they look really sweet and cheap. Best of all it's a 250cc bike that a starter can just learn from and not feel so bad if its drop.

ya its great for all the guys that say "I have to start on a gixxer!!!!" because usually they just want to look badass on a fully faired sportbike. this way they get that and its a 250cc bike so its easier to learn on. and from i can gather the parts should be very cheap to replace as well.

Well, I agree with the first and disagree with the second. Parts will probably be expensive for a new bike with limited distributors and it may be hard to find parts on ebay until some bikes are bought and crashed. (Sorry, but that's the reality.) I hope the 250 bike owners don't need parts for a loooong time. Ride safe.

no i mean the oem parts should be very cheap. if you look at the bike you can see the parts are not as expensive looking as other manufacturers. thats what i am basing it on.

Well, I hope you're right, but when it comes to motor vehicle parts the inventory and distribution costs for small parts can be WAY more than the materials and production labor. And those costs are going to have to be even higher if they can't be spread among as many stores and customers as a major brand like Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. It's one of the reasons why big brands get bigger and small brands get bought out.

Don't get me wrong, I like the looks of the bike. It looks a lot like a GSXR 600 - for about $6000 less.

Anyone considering a Hyosung should check out the reliability data if you can and take a look at the bike in person. My impression is that they are well put together, but with cheap parts and the bikes are therefore not reliable... maybe they are beter these days???

ya u can def tell the parts look cheaper compared to what we're used to. but it is a beginner bike imo and will be sold after a year anyway....btw it comes with a long warranty anyway. i was very impressed with it.

It reminds me of a first set of Hyundais or Kias that came to the US, looks like it's price but with a loooooong warranty compared to competitors of that time.

Definately not 3500 just FYI. I was off to buy one of these the day I bought my FZ6. My friend had bought the exact one you have in the pic, yellow, had the 250 taken off. He got his for 3,200... plus the free gas for the year:rockon:

needless to say I was pumped. I go to the dealer find the same salesman, tell him I'm ready to buy, I have the money, all we need to do is sign. He say's price is 4500 WTF are you talking about dude, my friend just bought the same bike for 3200,.... "well he got lucky cause he wanted yellow and it was last years model" I was like last years model? there's no way that it depreciates 1k in a year sitting on a showroom floor. So I got the manager, he blows some smoke up my a$$ about that it costs him 3,700 plus shipping plus what he puts it together and he's not making money until after 4,150 so if I wanted to make an offer from there he would "entertain" it. :banghead::banghead: I was like dude! " you're an off brand, you're not proven in quality, I came up here because my friend was treated well and got a deal. I can go buy a Yamaha for 6k out the door!! (I had already talked to that dealer but was going with the hyosung for the deal and smaller engine) and it's a 600cc not a 250. I was like You're crazy!! " so I told him to keep my number and if he wanted to do business to call me.

On the way into work, the very same day I stopped at the Yammie dealer and bought my FZ6... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better decision anyway, I rode my friends Hyosung 250R it feels like it's gonna fall apart. F them:Flip:

yeah i've seen those, at first it looked a lot like a gxsr, but then i noticed it was a hyosung. i got to tell ya friends im very impresed, it really looks better than a kawy 250.
It could be like the samyong which is like the chinese mercedez-benz g500, its just has a different look but same mercedez technology!

very true, but a ninja 250 is better still... tried and true brand, parts are predictable. It depends on the dealer too, if they want to price gouge like this douche did, go get a ninja you'll be better off. But if they'll be realistic about the price then buy it, it's a decent 250.

Along those lines...I wonder who the suppliers are for their components? The Japanese brands have a great supply base with Nissin, Brembo, Showa, etc.

Anyone know?

Also, is the 250 a sleaved down 650?

They do look great!
