Stupid bike shop! Grrrrrrr!

The excuse i was given last night, re all my problems, was that because i am the "only one" (I DOUBT IT HIGHLY), that is doing "Sick stuff" (Their words, not mine) to an FZ6, that is why i have problems....cause "it throws people"...does not wash with me.....Grrrrrr!

LOL,- The Mod Hoe is into Sick Stuff :D:D
Could make an adult movie on that one :)

Ok, we broke the old chain with an angle grinder, nothing like getting "agricultural" with a grinder!

Exactly how I do mine mate

I can't believe the hassles you have with that shop, and what crap excuses too.I thought those guys were much better than that !

Hmmmm....worse part is, i quite like a couple of them, nice people, but they test my patience just a little too much.

:(

No worries mate. I'll head in and get some "sick stuff" for my bike too...lol.

"Can I get a sheep skin seat cover?"...lol....That'll throw 'em:thumbup:.

So what you're saying is, if you've got an FZ6 and want to do any mods.....don't go here:spank:?

Cheers
Mike

Not if you want the right parts, on time!

Price has been very good on many occasion...and they are friendly, and helpful enough..even if i do know more about what i am getting them to order, than they do most of the time...

But the "Sick Stuff" comment, is a bit illustrative of where they are at....bit wound up in the hype...not quite on the ball...

I know it's been said roughly a bjillion times, but even through all of the hastle, effort, and $$$ you've dropped... You have ended up with one of the most beautiful bikes I've seen even though they're just pics...

Thanks! it's a full blown obsession....put "Damien" into touring mode tonight, ready for PI...it looks very different with all the touring bits on...and they will all be coming off while i am at the Island!!!!

well...all hail action under fire...said stupid bike shop came through with a rear GYTR 520/47t rear sprocket today... Is gold, very blingy! Is getting fitted by gazza while I work tonight...panic over!

Also got my new rear tyre today..Michelin pilot road 2, 180/55 17..... $270 fitted! Damn good price from the price busters....Maxi Moto!

Getting excited now!!!we are almost set to roll on Friday morning...fingers crossed.

Dam right you deserve better treatment than that! A first-time customer at said shop deserves better than that, let alone a guy that has spent the kind of dough you obviously have.

And dam right the $$ has been well spent! I love the wheels! I just got a lower cowl and a few other mods for mine and I can see how the obsession to modify your bike just keeps growing and growing. I have plans for the L&V carbon fibre exhaust and LOADS of stuff heeheehee... anyway I'm glad you stood up to them and made them make it right!! Way to go have fun on your trip!!

I had no choice but to stand up on this one...there was no way in this world I was going to PI on anything other than the FZ!

........Or ask Matt real nice for a lend of the TRX :D[/QUOTE]

Thats not going to happen, I was going to take the TRX coz of the cruz control, the better luggage space, the screen, the better fuel range , etc....Was doing the maintenance checks last night and while changing the coolant discovered OIL in the radiator, so I'm figuring its a stuffed head gasket or worse still cracked head....Although it wasn't running hot so it could be the seal in the water pump.....otherwise the coolant would be mixing with the oil rather that the other way round...anyway, no time to sort it before we leave so the MT01 gets the nod...anyway the screen for that arrived TODAY anyway...

Hey Wolfman,

What if someone wanted a higher top end speed for freeway riding? I always seem to be searching for another gear.

What ratios would you recommend?
What parts and from whom?

The simple answer would be to go to a 45t rear sprocket (-1)...would definitely give you more top end, but at the expense of power down low.

The more expensive answer would be to go for a 520 conversion, with a 45t rear.....lighter chain, less rotating mass, better acceleration, which might mean less impact on drive at lower rev's...

Dunno but am guessing that with a 45t rear sprocket, it might not be so great, am thinking the bike might run out of breathe, as it is geared too low....

I know with my 520 conversion, which goes the other way -2 front +1 rear, i have lots better acceleration, and not much loss of top speed, due to the fact, that the bike drives hard all the way to redline in each gear, including top....am thinking that with the lower gearing...this ability will be further compromised than it already is with OEM 530 gearing.

As to where to get the sprocket's...if it is 530....just about anywhere, if you decide to do a 520 conversion....the only real place to get the rear sprocket, is direct from GYTR (Yamaha)...Vortex do them in 520 for the FZ6, but they never seem to be in stock....trust me i know, as does Ozzieboy now!

Cost of the 520 conversion( chain & both sprockets) should be about $280 - $300....including a really decent x ring chain....could be done cheaper with a cheaper chain...

Cost of just changing the size of the rear 530 sprocket, should be about $80.

Hope this helps....
