What bike did you learn on?

Erci, and then you are advocating starting easy on the first motorcycle? I betcha this thing beats Hayabusa! :BLAA:

0-60 in... infinity?

LOL.. yeah! Top speed was 60Kph .. ~ 37mph :rof:

I started on a Yamaha '86 XS400 special. $800 and a little over 1k miles before upgrading to a bandit 1200:eek:

Worked out alright though

Started out on a 1981 CB650, Bought it for $200 in April 2012, brought it home and spent about 100 hours getting those damn Keihin CV carbs clean, and operational. Did lots of cleanin/rebuilding on that bike. Sold it for $1200 in July 2012 and made good!
Bought a 1986 FZ600 in near mint condition. It was a neat bike. ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE!! Spent big $ on electrical parts, but could never trust the thing. Sold it for my 09 FZ6 with 2300miles. Now it sits in the garage and cries because it is ONCE AGAIN SNOWING.

Started in the dirt since age 6. First street was a 1986 Suzuki Savage 650 (now called the S40 I think). Then a 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400. Several years off street bilkes still riding dirt, then in 2010 bought a 2008 FZ6.

Started with a Suzuki GS500F, put 10,000 km on it in one Canadian riding season, upgraded to an FZ6 over this past winter. Picking it up and riding it for the first time this coming weekend

Started in the dirt and then to a Ninja 250 for my first street (Common trend here it seems!)

Very common!

I started on a 1989 Honda CR-80 dirt bike back in about 1991!

My first street bike was a 2003 Ninja 250 which I rode for about 1 year before buying the FZ6.

1st street bike I ever rode was a buell blast, maybe 50miles total? But the bike I really learned to ride on was a vstar 650 fun little cruiser with loads of tq for a small bike.

'82 Suzuki GS400. I bought it off my brother and could never really get the bike to like me. I hate carbs. Rode it for a year or two and then bought my FZ6.

1973 Honda CB175. I sold it a year ago for $1K which isn't bad considering I paid $200 for it! Learned on it driving through the neighborhood but never ventured outside of it. My first real bike that I've driven all over, was a 98 Suzuki Marauder which I just sold yesterday.

Hyosung 250 v-twin. It was fun around town but scary and dangerous on the highway.

Pretty good beginner bike but it had lots of problems mostly due to poor build quality.

I'll never own another Hyosung. Yamaha blows them away.

Yamaha Virago 250 (I think XV250 is the model). Little cruiser, great to learn on and I remember it being very good fun. Until I did a long trip on it wearing a heavy back pack

After that I got a Suzuki bandit 600 and never looked back at a cruiser since.

1984 Honda Nighthawk CB650SC. Got it in 2005 or so with 30k miles on it. It ran well enough, had a nice tame power to it.

Started running rough. Shops around here mostly won't touch a bike that old. The one shop that would kept it for months and never were able to make it run right. Got rid of it and got the FZ6. Fuel Injection is SO MUCH BETTER.

Started on a rebel 250 (loved that bike, but not good for my daily highway commute).

Yeah my experience was its a good town bike. But taking the same time as a bus to reach highway speeds while trying to merge with rush hour traffic on a Rebel remains one of the scariest two wheeled adventures I've had yet!
