Bridgestone prices

I am replacing my rear 180/55 ZR 17 tyre.
If anyone else has a brdgestone can they tell me what they paid for it?
has the factory BT020R and the lasy guy I rang says it is superseded by the BT021 and quoted $300 for a rear.
Do I need to replace my front at the same time and match the BT021?
Front looks good for a few thousand more klicks.
Bike has 12,000 km and tyres are from new.
I appreciate any info.

Also the 300 bucks seems a bit high as I just paid 100 us with free shipping for a new 021 from ebay, it has a date code of 08 but I figure the way I go through tires it won't matter:thumbup:
So I think shopping around might save you a few dollars.

I'm pretty sure the 300 is Australian dollars, which is 275 US, still a lot compared with your figures.

For the record a rear BT010 is 180 US here.

I just replaced the stock Bridgestone with the Michelin Pilot Road II on the rear at a cost of about $300 locally.
I would not recommend anyone stay on the Bridgestones as the Michelin's are fantastic in comparison.

As my front had 60% tread left I did not need to replace both at the same time. This also means I don't need to scrub in two tyres at the same time and reduces the possibility of sliding around too much.

If thats $399 for both fitted,that is a good price

@ rotb,yes the 020 has been replaced by the 021.$300 for the rear(fitted/loose wheel)sounds fairish.

I seem to remember paying around 300ish for my rear tyre (Michelin Pilot Road, not superseded by the Road II) and around 250 for the front.

The rear tyre lasted me around 12,000 kays and the front at 18,000. I'm currently on 25,000, so the rear has covered 13,000 and still has another 4 or 5 thousand kays left in it, although both tyres are squaring off.

I just payed $430 for a set of BT 015's. They are at least as sticky as the pilot powers. Have a nice shape for turning in and maintaining lean, and I'm thinking I should get around 6,000km out of them, which would put them on a par with Pilot Power 1ct's on a litre bike I reckon.

In all honesty, I would not put OEM tires back on ever....not for any reason.

100 USD at the moment is actually about 120 AUD.
Even the pound isn't worth 3x the AUD anymore.

That being said we pay a premium for living in the best country in the world (well thats my excuse and it makes me feel better.... sometimes)

I wouldn't stay on the stocks, I had tyres my mechanic recommended on my 250 and they where about 10x better than these things.

Someone said the Bt21's are dual compound tyres, is this so?
I have put 500km on the new BT21 rear and there is now problems with the front tyre 'tracking'. The front has done 14,000km and maybe the rubber is hard or the tyre has grown as suggested by Bidgestone. Maybe the camber of the road has made it wear on one side.
I am not sure but the front feels funny at low speed and takes ages to warm up. If there is a crack in the road running parallel to my direction, when I ride over it the bike tracks like it is on a tram track etc.

anyone else experienced these problems?
I am putting another new tyre on the front this weekend.

Roads are terrible here and I get that occasionally (getting stuck in cracks) its normally just a matter of muscling the bike out of them, or trying to avoid them.
No issues with how the front feels as yet though, checked tyre pressure?

Look like a single compound to me....

The OEM fronts tend to scollop pretty badly and are hard as a......well.....very hard thing...lol.

As soon as I discovered the joy of a non OEM rear, I decided to change the front as well.....they are horrible tires and almost anything would be better. Even if it's not totally used up yet, IMHO I would ditch for a new and better one. Michelins worked very well with my FZ6 (not quite up to it with the FZ1) but the Power 2ct's are supposed to be very nice.

You could try some 016's. They are not gonna last too long but will be pretty nice feeling tires on the FZ6. They are also triple compound tires so I could be wrong about their life expectancy.
