Ride & BBQ April 23

Well we had a great time! We road Palomar Mountain's South and East Grades. I had a little fun and bent my brake peddle while grinding my sport foot peg on the right. It was a decreasing radius turn that is always a sweet spot but there is a dip in a certain spot and I was compressing the suspension a little hard. I stayed on the peg keeping it in the turn but when the brake pedal hit I could feel the back tire start to unload. I adjusted to keep my bike in the lane and came out fine! When we got to the top of the mountain I looked down and the brake peddle was bent. Jerry had the tool to fix it.
We hit our regular hot spots. Montezuma Valley Road to Borrego Springs cross Yaqui Pass to Banner Grade, up through Julian and then through Santa Ysabel and back to Oceanside, Ca. Where we BBQ'd and had a great time. Kenny VegasRider was waiting for us at Dave's house. Had a great time meeting Dave's family and all his pups. What a way to spend the day!

Kenny,
Thanks for driving down to spending the afternoon with us!

Anza Borrego desert was really stunning today. The sky was filled with what we call UFO clouds. Hard to explain. They almost look like they have no depth and extremely soft looking...Weird..
The desert bloom is happening now so Lisa and I are caging back there tomorrow to shoot some picks and hike around.

Dave,
Thank you for organizing and hosting the BBQ and thank your wife and daughter for the great job they did as well as putting up with us!

Well I couldn't say it any better so double that:thumbup::thumbup: I did have a little adventure on the way home as I tried to avoid the freeway and got sorta lost:eek: I took off on old hwy 395 but some how ended up E Mission Rd and then got to De Luz Rd and wound around thru valleys, a creek crossing and then over a mountain and eventually ended up in Temecula, couldn't do it again if I tried but sure was fun. Only thing I shot today was some video, I'll post them as soon as I upload to YouTube. I think Kenny took some pics at Dave's so maybe he'll check in.

Funny I was just going to call you!

Here's a little video from South Grade Palomar, it sure is a lot bumpier than Montezuma:rolleyes: but lots of fun.

Thank you Jerry!
Great work! That's a fun road. I was a little worried that we would have wetter road conditions when we ran up into the clouds but it was really decent and then we came out of the clouds at higher elevation and it was sunny on top of the mountain. Not as much sand as the last time I was there.

I was amazed to See Rick Clemson leaving the mountain. I guess because there were very few rider because of the clouds.

Unfortunately Monty was full of traffic but still a lot of fun.
Another great day of riding and hangin out with friends!

And the last video running up Banner Grade--

To much fun and another big thanks to Smokenu (Dave) for putting this all together:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for Dave's hospitality, and the great food. That salsa was .

So I got drenched on the way home going up the Cajon Pass, like I said I left my rain gear back in Vegas. Here are some pics:

As I predicted, it was more like 2:30-3:00 rather than 1:30, so I got to Dave's place first, and finally I heard them coming. LOL...

Here's Jerry, doesn't his sharp looking gear shave off about 50 years?

Now here's the puzzling thing; Dave and I were just shaking our heads, just look at the Old Hooligan's tire? Puts some of us to shame! LOL....

At least nobody posted up pics/video of everybody having a good bbq time. It's tough enough watching the video/pics of you guys leaning into all those Palomar, Banner grade twisties, and also the lift off from Dave's. Watching the Palomar video it was all clear sailing, not even one tunaboat getting in the way? Yeah, I'm jealous. You got that right! Oh well, I plan on making it to the big dance in July.
