ROSSI! ....you idiot! SPOILER!

It was interesting listening to Mick Doohan on RPM (Aussie motoring TV show) last night, saying that it was a racing incident and basically that S#&% happens. He also, however, completely agreed with Stoner's 'ambitious' comment as Rossi obviously did not have the talent to go that hard under brakes in the wet, so correct, he did not have the talent to pull off that move.

Another comment Doohan made, that I would completely agree with and welcome, is to ban marshalls from entering the track, full stop! If your bike stalls then basically your out of the race. No help from anyone.

WTF was Rossi thinking! He should be banned for a couple of races for that garbage!

Couple of races might be a bit harsh, but being a fan of various types of motorsport and seeing the good and bad of each, I think something should be done in those sort of situations. Yes, he did not purposely try to take another rider out. He didn't have any malice in his actions, but he made a mistake, A mistake that shouldn't have happened and took out another rider.

Perhaps they need a review comittee (like it maybe happening now) and loss of points for that race or a grid spot penalty (common in F1) could be imposed for the next race???

No malice....I don't buy it! If he didn't bin it before he did, he was planning on using Stoners bike as a braking marker!!!

I watched most of the 07 Moto gp season review last night, and on at least 4 occasions there was Rossi pulling the same move... Dive in under brakes way too hard, push the guy you are overtaking out do wide they are nearly off the track, then proceed to do a three point turn to get your bike the rest of the way around the corner, with said victim too busy trying to stay on their bike to be able to re-take you!

Good point. I guess if they did have a system in place where the races were reviewed and penalties imposed, then history would certainly come into account when deciding on the penalty - just like the football codes and suspensions for foul play....

Well no body but the Lart can say if there was malice intended, but it doesn't really matter if there was or not. It is his sinature overtaking move. Sometimes he mis-times it and near 'T'bones the other rider like with Nicky Hayden last year at PI. That was when I started to say the guy needs a cow catcher on his bike. Everyone else seems to get past without resorting to these cruddy moves. These cruddy moves are why I don't like the guy. He only has time for slower riders than him. As soon as riders out do him, he starts putting walls up in the pits, or basically just tries to give them carp.

As for keeping the marshalls off the track, maybe that is the way to go. Whatever happens, it's all done now so time to look forward to the next race. Hopefully we'll get to see a few more bike finishthe race.

its a competitive sport and too me that just sounds like a strategic manoeuvre albeit a harsh one to use that you probably would only want to use a couple of times a season. At the end of the day everyone is out for themselves and as they say nice guys end up last.

Although I would say its better to be high up the rankings and loved by everyone.

What if the bike is in a dangerous place?
What is a dangerous place?
What if it is half in half out of a dangerous place?

Who makes the decision?

Maybe they should have starter motors.

I'm just guessing, but I reckon he means the marshalls run out and drag off the bikes, and pick up any bits of broken rider:eek: before they all come back around again, but don't try to push start anyone. If they try to push start someone and fail, then they are going to struggle to get it out of the way by the time the field come around again. It will also reduce the amount of gravel dragged onto the track from picked up bikes I suppose.

One side effect of this would be to discourage anyone from pulling any dodgey moves, as they will likley be out of the race also.

well i'm late to the discussion but i saw the race. i was pretty mad for stoner. i don't care if he wins but it just seemed like a bad move to make on a wet track. i was wondering how many would actually cross the finish line. they started dropping off like flies. i like spies and was so happy when it looked like he'd finish on the podium. then his bike decided it was tired and needed a nap.

somewhat unrelated... i know this isn't the case but i really looked like ALL the marshalls were chomping at the bit to help valerie but didn't really care to do much to help stoner out. i'm sure there's stuff going on that i didn't see and hear, but it sure seemed that way to a noobie watcher. i actually wondered if they were part of valerie's team and that's why they didn't help stoner. it wasn't until i saw everyone else going down that i realized that's simply what those people did.

I think it may have had more to do with Lorenzo and Pedrosa....2 Spaniards on fast bikes that Casey was a direct rival too...they would of been more likely thinking of their Spanish boys, rather than Rossi...but dont forget, Moto GP is massive in Spain, and as such, so is Rossi....Stoner has always been painted as the bad boy (non-european), regardless of the fact that he is the winningest rider of the 800cc Moto GP era...

Whatever the story is, Rossi's move was just a little bit more than dubious, and as far as i am concerned, my intial view still stands, the actions of a desperate man, trying to hang on to his glory days, which as it all unravel's, seem to be well and truly over....

And i dont mean that in a Rossi hating way...the facts are pretty clear....injuries, faster team mates, more favoured by the Factory(Yamaha)that once could not do without the media Mogul, Rossi! As such Rossi turned to the most obvious option....An Italian Manufacturer (Ducati), that have always struggled to compete against the Japanese factories, who knew 18 months ago they were losing the only guy who could make their bike win, Stoner to Honda.

As such, Ducati killed their WSBK factory team, to make sure they could afford Rossi, in the hope that they could conjure up a "miracle" from the ageing master of Moto GP, along with his "sidekick", and master of winning WC's, Jeremy Burgess, and his team of merry Aussies, that have countless WC's on their CV's...

But as it is all seeming to be a bit hard, Rossi saw an opportunity on the level playing field that a wet track becomes for an underpowered, or evil handling bike...Rossi, using his years of Racing "guile", decided that this was his opportunity to make a star of himself, and went nuts, riding the bike way beyond the "limit" in the wet, till he crashed....as Stoner said, "your ambition outweighed your talent", in other words, you were never going to hold onto that bike, riding like that in those conditions, thanks for fu***** my day!

Rossi is not stupid, Stoner was his target to beat, and in this case, he saw Stoner just up ahead, and lost his $hit! Lorenzo is better than that, as is Stoner, and Pedrosa, and so did Valentino used to be....but these days he is "behind the game" and it shows...just my honest opinion....and i have watched just about every GP race since about 1986, so i reckon i can see stuff for what it is, even if i am pro Stoner....as i should be, cause i am an AUSSIE!
