Okay I know these are all over the map but I thought I'd share what I learned today.

My current policy expires in January so I figured I'd do some shopping.

My current levels of coverage are: 100/300/50, com and collision with a $250 deductible. I also have $3k in included accessory coverage and $1k in gear coverage.

My current annual rate is: $296.00

Progressive: $467 a year.

I thought this was a rip off so I called the Lizard guys, same coverage: $1,071!

So I stay where I am with American Modern Lloyds.

If you have a good Credit Score, you can try Foremost.
I have five bikes full coverage for $369.00.
FZ6, FJR, KZ900, CB77, CB160
(equal limits to what you have) Includes roadside service too.

Cool thanks. I just submitted it, I'll let you know what I find out.

I am also with formost. I have used them for my ninja and now for my fz. They had the best rates for me as well. Progressive, the lizard, and Allstate were all alot higher.

Hmm, Allstate has been pretty good to me so far, I'm running about $175/yr for similar coverage. May be due to a number of other policies that I have with them, but this has been the best I can find in my area so far.

Always open to suggestions, and I'll be looking at Foremost. Thanks!

A very good price a $282. I think I'll stick with American Modern, not worth $15 to change.

Thanks!

I had the same experience with that stupid lizard. I pay a couple hundred a year with State Farm and Geico quoted $1300/year. I thought it was a mistake so I had them double check it. Nope, that's just what they charge. I have to laugh out loud now when I hear a Geico m/c insurance commercial on the radio.

I used to work for Farmers and they own Foremost.
Started selling classic auto coverage with American Modern 13 years ago.
They were to high on my FJR however. American Modern is a great company.
Be Cool!

I had the same experience with the Lizard people and some other companies. All wanted $1200+ / year. I called AAA and they said they didn't cover motorcycles in So. Cal. I went in to AAA to pay my tuck and watercraft bills for the year and asked the rep why they didn't cover motorcycles as well. After less than 5 minutes of talking to the manager they had me in full coverage at $300 a year tacked onto my current auto policy.

Just got my updated bill from Progressive today since we recently added another bike.

Coverage on all is:
$250k liability
$250k unisured motorist
$1k medical payments
$500 deductible on collision and comprehensive
$3k on accessories

$75 on the XT250
$254 on the FZ6
$236 on the WR250X

We just can't figure out the gross difference on the XT and WR - both are 250cc. Agent said cost of repair and one is considered "sporty". Huh. We will be staying with Progressive - no one around here is cheaper.

Remember it's not just about the lowest price, but how easliy it will be to settle. Remember Wavex's thread about all of the headaches he encountered from his own insurance company after his crash, versus the other parties insurance which was State Farm, which turned out to be a walk in the park.

i have been with Progressive and i have full coverage and pay $38.00 a month all year round. They also gave me a $12k for any mod's that were done by me.

I think you hit the nail on the head Ghost, location, location, location. And well, age, marital status, driving recored, etc... but I digress...

Anyhow, in Texas we have one of the highest uninsured motorist rates of the entire country. Our southern neighbors move here, buy insurance for a month (yes you can buy it for a month here), get their vehicle licensed and then cancel the policy the same day. It is estimated that 50% of Texas drivers DO NOT have insurance.

Also if you live near the Mexican border and own an American SUV and/or Pick Up it has a very high likelyhood of going south for a long visit.

When I lived in Greeley Colorado when I was in graduate school, full coverage for my '69 Porsche 911 was $215 a year in 1994. I moved to Austin that year and it was $800 a year. Ouch!

Ghost Weim...you ever check with American Family? I'm up in Green Bay, and they're the cheapest I've found around here.

I've got 2 vehicles, 2 bikes, and the house with them.

500,000/500,000/100,000 with a 500 deductible

$171.60 a year on the 07 FZ

$155.70 a year for my fiances 05 V-Star

Yup, I used to have American Family for auto and home - the rates were not good and, so I changed and got much better rates with home and autos through a combo of two other companies. And - I gained a much better agent in the switch. I don't think my rates are all that bad for 12 months of coverage - my main surprise comes at the difference on the two bikes that are 250cc.

Yea...it sux being under 25. I'm with State Farm and have a perfect driving record. (No accidents, no tickets) and its $1250 a year for full coverage.

Ok. I think Am Fam in kinda high on the house, but they beat everyone on the bikes and cars. Thought about switching, but then I'd lose the multi-policy discounts and puts right back where I started.
