LOTs of PICs of trackday

Per this thread: http://www.600riders.com/forum/racing-forum/17815-trackday-8-8-09-a.html Cali_Rider and I left early in the morning and drove 2h North of LA to Willow Springs International Raceway, for a trackday.

Last time we did the "Big track" (where I crashed, http://www.600riders.com/forum/raci...unite-now-w-pics-may-25th-willow-springs.html), so this time we tried the small track, or "Streets of Willow".

This track is a tight and technical 1.8 mile course used by Keith Code for his Superbike School... the layout of the track is a lot of fun with lots of turns and 125feet of elevation changes, and the only dissapointment was the quality of the pavement... lots of bumps, uneven surfaces, and other than a couple of sections that they've redone recently, the rest of the track is not confidence inspiring at all...

Anyway, thanks to Cali_rider for his great company and most of the pics below... thanks for all the help, the trailer, and everything else as well John! :thumbup:

Finally, John jumped on the gixxer for a couple of sessions (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), so look for the pics of him (red leathers + blue helmet)...

Quite a lot of crashes in group C and a couple in group B... with this organization, crash anytime during the day means you're done for the day... bikes stay on the side of the track the whole day...

and yes, I finished FIRST!!!!!

The group wasn't that small... lots of people just took their time to get off their ass and get on the grid! I was always 1st or 2nd on the grid and I did not rush... group A was pretty small by mid-day, but B and C were normal size...

Making it to the track is quite a process (especially with a bike to fix up), and the anxiety before the first session is there for sure, but once you're into the 3rd session of the day, you know why you did it all :thumbup:

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rush (whatever speed you want to cruise around at, you'll have a blast).

Yeah, I got a free track day and some sort of year membership from Yamaha when I bought the bike. I guess it's not really free since I bought the bike new....

Nice pictures!! Looks like it didn't take Cali Rider too long to make himself comfortable on your bike!
I signed up for a "test the track" day this Saturday. I am a newbie, and thought it would be the best way to get more comfortable with my bike.

Great pics man, that white sure stands out. That looks like a really dusty dirty track. I'd be leary with all that fine sand/dirt all over the track. Sounds like ya'll had a blast though.

Would you go back to that track?
