    118 chain on a 15/48 setup?

Can you use the stock 520 118 chain for the 15/48 combo or do you have to bump up to a 120 chain? I just recieved a D.I.D Vx2 118 chain and just realized that it might be too short.

first time adjusting my chain: some questions/comments

I had my chain replaced recently, by a mechanic. As I drove it afterward, it made a whining sound that got worse with speed. I wound up driving about 50 miles on it, this way, before I decided it wasn't just the new chain that was noisy, but rather, that the chain tension was too high. I...

    Finally getting new chain/ sprockets

Is anyone in the SE WI area and would be willing to help me swap my chain and sprockets? I can't complain as it's been 40k miles on the originals from new. :) I've already got the sprockets and chain (stayed with factory ratio and chain size) so all I'd really need is a little guidance and a...

    Funny grinding/clicking under hard acceleration

As title, there is often a few clicky sounds under hard acceleration from a stop light. I didn't find out about it until I changed my chain recently, as there was other noise from the worn chain (apparently) that was masking it. I did not change the sprockets, because they actually still look...

Chain jumping when bike on center stand

I'm a new rider with a 2008 FZ6. Last time I was cleaning my chain, I realized that when I put the bike on its center stand and let it run in any gear except neutral, the chain bounces vertically up and down. Is this normal? I checked the slack specs and they check out as stated per manual.

    routine maintenance: WTF?

So, I've been paying attention to all the pre-ride checks that are suggested and making the needed adjustments as my skill allows. My chain tension is a recurring problem and I've corrected it other times but because I've only been riding a few summers, I don't have a lot of experience /...

Chain Bouncing after a 850 mile ride.

Hello guys, We had a weekend trip to TOD over the weekend, which was 850 miles, before the trip started, I lubed the chain, and didn't lube it in the middle of my trip. Now, I see the chain is bouncing, a bit. It was a bit bouncy, after lubing it, the bounciness reduced a bit, but it is still...

    Master Link

I got 45k miles on my original chain and sprockets. When I replaced with OEM chain and sprockets I was able to get a Master link from Yamaha dealer so that I could install the chain without removing the swingarm. Now, 25k miles since, my chain started clunking like it was wore out. Since...

    Tips to maximize MPGs?

Hello all, So I noticed that when I actually do the speed limit (ha ha) on the freeway my MPG went up. Doing 65 MPH for a 300 mile stretch nets me about 58-59 miles per gallon at about 5500 RPM. When I was going faster I was only getting about 50 MPG. I went back and looked at posts to the...
