is this the right gasket for valve clearance check?

Hi all ws going to check and replace shims soon keep putting it off but I have this gasket as I read that this gasket can need replacing with new one when you come to do the job. Is this the right gasket that may need replacing?

The wiring coming out of the cover should take a light coating of liquid sealer (such as Yamabond, etc) too...
