New addition to the family...

Crappy pic, but proof is proof :D

I was confused when I read your concerns about lack of wind protection on the FZ6, especially when compared to that mini windscreen on the FZ1. I get it now.

Yeah.. I wasn't about to convert the 6 back to faired version. Honestly never liked how much turbulence it created.. and I tried several screen variations :don'tknow:

to anyone who owns the fz1. just curious how is it for touring duties. not the power; i know she has more than enough....seating position, pillion accomodation, tank range. i'm not planning a change but im always looking at bikes just for the fun of it!

I can't answer about the pillon, I've never had one, but the seating position is very much like the FZ6. Add bar risers to that and it really sits you up straight (which is what I did).
The stock seat...well, come on, it's a stock seat, there are more comfortable options there :( I get wiggly after an hour or so.
We once went from Pagosa Springs to Gunnison and by the time we hit Gunnison, I was literally on fumes. That was about 180 miles.

So you didn't do any other mods in terms of air or fueling? Just put a slip-on on and it's pretty good? That's awesome to know! I don't mind a bit of popping.. I kinda like it actually :D

No, we didn't do anything else to it, and I like a little popping too.
We found this video very helpful when changing it too:

Wow! Congrats! Awesome!!! You're going to love, Love, LOVE the switch! I never looked back.

Swapping out the can is simple and yes, it does create popping, worse with a heavier throttle hand. But this is EASILY cured. All's you have to do is plug the hose to the AIS pump (or do blockoff plates and remove the entire thing). Blocking is simple... The hose is under the clutch-side of the airbox. Pop the hose off, plug it with a properly sized bolt that you can cut the head off then put the hose back on the airbox.

Modding the sub-throttle plates will open up the mid-range a lot. Since you are touring more than carving, this will help in the cruising range.

At the sister site, we have all the information you need. You already know some of the members there so come on over, introduce yourself and enjoy the knowledge and good company.

Congrats!!!

I got to take out our Yamaha rep's Super Tenere on Wednesday. I'm pretty sold on it. I need to figure out if it is possible before the black one arrives at our dealership next month.

Congrats man! Good step up - well deserved. They came out w/ a white FZ1 this year, so I may need to upgrade when the price drops in 1-2 years. Thats of course assuming you give it the thumbs up over the near future!

Saw one in person.. liked it better than in pictures. Sweet ride!

I LOVE that retro look, a friend of mine had an rz350, I think it was that one, with the kenny roberts black/yellow. Looked killer!
