I don't come here often, but why do all the threads have to have "the following user says thank you for the useful thread" BS. It's almost ridiculous in some threads.

Sorry, but I see absolutely no reason for it. If you need to thank someone so much for posting such a useful thread, send them a PM....

I agree, the original poster has a point, but I also say thanks when I just plain enjoy a post, it doesn't need to be useful in my mind.

I guess everyone will use it a little differently or choose not use it all.:Flash:

The "Thanks You" was originally put there to cut down on posts. Instead of someone posting something like "+1" or "I agree" they could simply click thank you. I see it as a thread rating. If you see a ton of thank you's then the thread is usually read worthy.

Because we like each other and want to encourage each other to be helpful/funny/contributary (yes, that's not a word). I would rather publicly thank someone for a useful post than do so anonymously.

Honestly, a lot of times I'll read a post or thread that I think has value to it, but I don't really have much to add myself, so I'll thank the person that posted. Not sure that I'm nerdy, but I see no harm in thanking people for constructive posts; thanks. :thumbup:

A post that gets me laughing will always get thanks too, after all, happiness makes the world go round :thumbup:

The thanks you's are used in place of posting a +1 post. It keeps things cleaner and simpler.

And, it was my idea to use them that way. So naturally, I think it's awesome.
