I think the Fizzer is an awesome allrounder. The bike has great reliability, versatility, and an aftermarket parts chain that is very good. I know you can buy better bike for specific applications, but overall, the FZ6 is a great 'do everything' bike!

YMMV.

The only draw back is lack of power with a passenger, be interested how the fz8 performs, need to $ save a little to find out.

Cheers
Macvicar

I can tell you that from a seat of the pants review, the FZ6 has more go 2 up, this comes from a pilLion that has spent about 10000km's as a pillion on an FZ6,and who hs also done some touring as a pillion on an FZ8.

:D

Bikes I've owned:

1988 EX500
1997 TL1000s
1974 GT185
1998 GSX-R600
2005 Monster620
2000 748
1988 CBR600
2004 FZ6

I'm not sure which one of these is the best, but the most versatile is definitely the FZ6. My top 3 favorites would be the Ducati 748, the FZ6 and the EX500(if only because it was my first bike)

The best bike I've ever ridden was a 2007 Ducati Multistada1100S, with Ohlins. (mmm...Ohlins)

YES!!
My first road bike was an '04 Kawasaki Vulcan EN500.
The FZ6, my second bike is worlds better in pretty much every way.
Oh, and years back, I learned to ride on an '81 Honda Express II 50cc

Mine has to be the FZ6. Second would be my 1986 ? ( Not sure the exact year) Suzuki GS750. It was sorta like my FZ6 as far a riding position goes with a small wind screen. My first big bike and had a lot of fun with her.

Well.... the last bike I owned before the Fazer was a 1982 Honda CBX550F which I sold in 1984 so the memories are a bit faded. I have also ridden bikes such as Yamaha RZ350, RZ500 and FZ1, Honda CB900F, CBX and Blackbird, Kawasaki KH500, Z900, Z1300, ZX-12R, GTR1400... not much I know but quite varied.

I voted yes.

Yes. The only other bike I've owned was a 1978 Kawasaki KE100, back in 1988, and that was just riding trails. The FZ6 is my first street bike and has been pure enjoyment and a fun hobby!

Definitely the best bike I've owned, since I've only owned a 2007 Ninja 250 and this 2008 FZ6. I would also say it's the best bike I've ridden because it's just perfect for my style of riding.

I've ridden:
Ninja 250
Vstar 250
Honda 599 (CB600F)
Vstar 650
Shadow 750
Brief stint on an 09 R1 (ridiculous!)
CBR 600 F4i (uncomfortable)

The FZ6 is fun, fast, reliable, comfortable (except for my stock seat, gotta get an upgrade soon!), easily flickable, and it looks awesome, too! I don't see myself upgrading for a LONG time.

Don't believe there is such a thing as a best motorcycle...but without a doubt the FZ6 is one of the best I've ever owned or rode. An exceptional motorcycle, comfortable enough for a multi day tour and a whole lot a fun on a Sunday ride...and cheap. I love it. So I'll vote best.

Lots of very happy FZ6 owners around here by the looks of it! It is a hard bike to fault. Most people only seem to move on from the FZ6 in pursuit of more grunt, and then it seems that memories of the FZ6 are just about always very fond of the mighty lil fizzer!

Don't think I have ever heard of anyone say the FZ6 is not a great bike.

Lots of people who've owned very few bikes too.

Aye, she is my favourite. Awesome post Wolfman! You Aussies sure come up with wild out of the blue questions.

I have owned;
1987 Honda CBX250
2004 Kawasaki ZZR250
2005 Suzuki SV650S
2007 Yamaha FZ6

I had an issue where I really wanted to keep changing bikes. I started at 16, and each year after I bought a new bike. It was like a one year tradition. I had plans of keeping the SV, but I got a steady girlfriend who didn't like the back seat. My dad had his FZ1 for about a year at that point and kept bragging about how he loved it and the seating position. On fathers day, i bought myself an FZ6 (2007 but was a left over as got it in 08). Dad laughed and cosigned! She is my pride and joy. I have ridden MANY bikes, nearly 20 models, and I can not give her up. If I need more grunt (though the 6 needs none) I steal my dads keys to the FZ1. Otherwise the 6 all day and night.

Wow! So far 72% of respondants (54 people) all reckon the FZ6 is the best bike they have owned....that's pretty high, even for a dedicated FZ6 forum!!!

Just goes to prove what i already thought...the FZ6 has a very loyal, and enthusiastic following...for very good reason!

keep posting your thoughts, and casting your votes people.

Let me warn you, never be in the presence of Mrs Disco. She hates it :spank:

Not just FZ's mind you, anything with a tuning fork badge on it :spank:
Disco, control your wife....

She needs one of these :spank:

How could she not love Yamaha OR the FZ6?.....
