What is that toggle switch on the left?

Used to be high/off/low for the grip heaters I had on the stock bars. Now it's:

the only major things I have done have been preventative or routine maintenance...valve check, oil changes, coolant, brake fluid, new tires, new chain, brake pads, etc

the only out of the ordinary was a right rearset, which was my own dumb fault(I blame the wet leaves on the road)

Nearly 30 000 miles (46 000kms)

I've done a bit, changed a bit - but mainly for customisation purposes.

Still on the original brake pads!

Cheers,
Rick

Just turned 40,000 today:cheer: Shooting for 100,000, but don't know if I'll make it before getting another bike. I will keep this one though:thumbup:

Most of it is commuting miles (probably 75%). Bought the bike new in 2008 and used it for year round commuting for first 4 years. Now I'm involved in youth groups and have to drive a lot more.

Basic maintenance. been through:

3 chains
going on 4 sets of tires.
a couple of break changes.
That's about it.

Slow speed crash a few times, but only one time in with part replacements and still have a clean title.

Upgrades and alterations:

LED intigrated tale light and turn signels by front head lights.
Linked headlights
Frame sliders
Foot peg lowering kit
Touring wind screen
Home made highway pegs
Give trunk

This is also a photo from today (sorry about the low quality, didn't have the nice camera today):

I have an '08 purchased from dealer with ~4,800 miles on it in Summer '09. Now have over 42,000 miles on her. No mechanical issues. Routine maintenance plus (1) new battery. Have not done the valve check yet (winter project). Only have 3 more months of riding here in Michigan so I will have to wait until next summer to hit 50k.

Would love to see a thread started by you on those highway pegs! Share, share!

I'll see what I can do. I don't have photos of the process. I can take pictures and explain what I did though. They are a little high, so not like stretched out riding. Imagine riding a chopper made for a midget:BLAA:They do give a different seating and leg position for us with stiff knees. Maybe I'll get my wife to take a picture of me folded up in that riding position:mikebike:

Mine had 57000 kms on it when I sold it. Which is about 34000 miles. It ran, looked and felt like the day I bought it. What a great, bulletproof bike!! Other than maintenance and a few mods, it was very inexpensive to own and a hoot to ride!

'04 fz6n - Purchased in '09 with 4500 miles.
About to pass 45 000 miles.

Only major fix was the stator - it shorted out at 40 000.

Just had the steering bearing changed last month (had small vibration).
I had new oil put in the forks (went one grade heavier).
One set of brake pads (front and rear).

Several sets of tires, oil every 3000 and fluids as required.

I am about ready for new chain and sprockets (still original!!).

Bike still runs like new and puts a smile on my face every time I ride.

Mac.

2008 with 5,800 miles. I've logged just over 1,900 miles in the two months I've owned her. The two previous owners seem to have taken good care of her but apparently didn't ride much.

The only maintenance I've done was to lube the chain, and then two weeks ago, to lube the shifter linkages. One evening with no warning the shifter refused to down shift till I got off and manipulated it by hand. Happily I found a thread here that explained the problem. Till I saw that I was concerned that the tranny was in trouble.

Before I put her up for the winter (not this next week) I'll change the oil, coolant (just in case it's been in there since 08) and the brake fluid since it looks a bit darker than fresh.

whats the switch for?

My '09 only has 5000ish on it. but i only get to ride when i come home from school on break... My bicycle saw 1500 more miles than the FZ last summer with the surgery as well, so that wasnt helping with the whole riding thing (don't tell the Doc.....)
