I say no, but make sure the vids and photo's are properly tagged as to the content.
people have different levels of comfort when it comes to tragedy....my first beheading video shocked the sh*t out of me...now I critique the camera work....

I agree with Magseal, keep the existing content and just be sure that the mods watch to make sure that it is appropriately marked as NSFW or gory of something like that.

Just mark things and let people know.

No threads marked

PUPPIES and KITTENS inside
Then open the thread and have
Puppies and kittens insides.
Thats just not cool.

I didnt like the dude popping like a grape either, but it is what happens, and is a very very good reminder to stay aware.

I think most of the members here are adults. We should have the right to decide whether to view the thread or not. Like many has mentioned, it is a reminder of reality, that death can be just around the corner. It's dangerous out there. Possibly with one exception, hope that it never will come down to this, however, if any members are to take that fatal fall, no pics.

Personally I see enough death and distruction at work. We all need a reality check sometimes. I agree that no pictures of members should be posted in the event of an accident. After all that is about being respectful.
I would also like to offer that same level of respect to other riders.
Consider this for a moment, If the poor rider had fallen of his scooter and rolled away from the wheels of the truck. The video would still have the same impact, God that was close ect.
Has that video generated any really meaningful debate?
Personally I do not need to watch another humans last moments to realise that riding can have its risks.
If people wish to post graphic content then it should be clearly stated as already been discussed.
I may also be a little to close to this subject as my little bro was killed on his bike in a truck related accident.

keep the vids gory or not. It's always a matter of choice. Watch it or NOT to watch it. Just like the scary vid about ghouls and ghost.:Flip:

Enough Censorship Already

I agree with most of you. There should not be a problem as long as the threads are properly marked, for instance "WARNING: Gory video, blood, guts, etc. Viewer discretion is advised. The following video might be psychologically disturbing to the viewers".

as said just as long as we respect each other enough to warn of the content, and also as said it does work as a kick *** reality check to keep us from getting to confident with our selves.

like others have said, if it is tagged properly (like the video in question was) then whoever opens it has an idea that they are going to see some gore, and also as others have said, it is a good reminder of what could happen out there and to look out.

I agree with tagging them properly, and have a BIG warning as to how bad the video may be.

i also agree with the majority here. no pics/vids of members passing. post a warning for the weak of heart. maybe instead of attaching the pic/vid post a link to it so we won't see it on accident.

Should we censor certian images and video on the site?

Remember this is my opinion.

As a responsible/respectable web site you do have the responsibility to censor certain images and video on the site or it will open up every form of perversion known to man. What's next Porn?Chicks doing donkeys.

We have a cuss filter to edit out bad words but you can show someone getting killed on a bike.....That's just ****ed up.
I've seen people banned for trying to sell their crap on this site if they are not a sponsor. LOL

Maybe my opinion would be different if I didn't open the video of the guy getting smeared by the semi truck with my son standing right behind me this morning. He's taking his MSF course this weekend. That put a good image in his head...

I know things are slow right now because of winter weather but do we really have to sink to the level of shock video?

You could make a private members section where people can pay to go see that crap.

Rant over.

I personally don't want to see it. I see enough gore at work. But, I feel it's appropriate on this site. If seeing this makes just one person (especially here) be a little more observant, I feel its served a great purpose. It's a tragedy that people die, but its also part of life.

Fisheye, I'm sorry your son saw the video, but if he's old enough to take a MSF course and ride, he should understand the possible consequences. This is not meant to be taken offensively.

Now, did I hear mention of Porn????? :D
